What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty can address a wide range of concerns, including the nose’s size and shape, the nostrils’ width, and the angle between the nose and the upper lip. The procedure can also correct impaired breathing caused by structural differences in the nose. Dr. Davidson’s meticulous approach ensures that the results are balanced and harmonious with the facial features. He is skilled in both open and closed approaches, creating a 100% custom approach to every procedure, depending on the needs and goals of each patient.

Types of rhinoplasty

Cosmetic rhinoplasty

Cosmetic rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure primarily focused on enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the nose. This procedure can address various issues, such as nose size, shape, and symmetry, bringing it into a more harmonious balance with the features. Dr. Davidson’s precision and artistic eye ensure results that naturally complement the individual’s facial features, enhancing their overall appearance and boosting self-confidence.

Ethnic rhinoplasty

Ethnic rhinoplasty is tailored to meet the unique needs of patients from diverse ethnic backgrounds, ensuring that their natural beauty is preserved and enhanced. Dr. Davidson takes a meticulous approach, respecting and celebrating the distinct characteristics of each ethnicity while making subtle changes that align with the patient’s aesthetic goals.

Septorhinoplasty

Septorhinoplasty is a comprehensive procedure that combines aesthetic enhancements with functional improvements, correcting a deviated septum and other internal nasal issues to improve breathing. Functional and appearance related concerns are often inter-related. Dr Davidson will carefully examine nasal breathing functionality as well as discuss each patient’s aesthetic goals to formulate a treatment plan.

Reconstructive rhinoplasty

Dr Davidson welcomes patients with the most challenging rhinoplasty needs to Palm Beach Plastic Surgery Institute, whether this is revision rhinoplasty after surgery elsewhere, rhinoplasty after trauma to the nose or following cancer surgery, and rhinoplasty in patients with congenital clefts and other birth differences of the nose.

What to expect in recovery after rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is typically performed as outpatient surgery, with patients going home the same day. It is performed under general anesthetic. Patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which generally subside within two weeks. Discomfort can be managed with prescribed pain medications. Cold compresses and keeping the head elevated, including during sleep, helps to reduce these symptoms. Do not blow your nose, and ensure you avoid any pressure or contact on the newly reshaped nose.

A nasal splint is usually worn for the first week to support the new shape of the nose. Internal nasal splints may also be placed at the time of surgery and remain in place for the first week. Most patients feel ready to return to work and resume normal activities within two weeks, although strenuous activities should be avoided for a few weeks. Dr. Davidson and his team provide comprehensive aftercare instructions and are available to address any concerns, ensuring a smooth and controlled recovery process.
